The Director General of Nigerian Maritime Safety and Administration (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola has assured continued support of women plying their trade in the Nigerian maritime industry.
Speaking in his Keynote address at the 2024 International Day for Women in Maritime held at NIMASA Apapa Office on Friday, the DG represented by the Director Maritime labour and cabotage services, Alhaji Jibrin Abba made it clear that NIMASA had been; and will continue to encourage women participation in every aspect of maritime industry.
Earlier in her opening remarks, the Director Financial Services at NIMASA, Mrs. Olamide Odusanya said this is time to encourage the young girl child to take to maritime education as a way of shoring up women participation.

Presenting her key paper, Mrs. Gloria Anyasodo called on the DG to give equal support to all the women associations in the industry.
The high points of the occasion were cutting of the cake and inauguration of WIMOCA national Chapter by the DG.
Several maritime women associations from maritime agencies and private sector players including WISTA, WILAT, WIMOCA and others were represented by their executive officers.
Women top officials of key maritime agencies including NIMASA, NPA, Shippers Council and NIWA were present at the event.
