Officials during the visit of Ministry of Livestock to IIRS in Owerri on 7/7/26
The Imo State Ministry of Livestock, led by the Honourable Commissioner of Livestock Prof. Tony Mgbeahuruike, visited the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 to discuss collaboration for better revenue generation in the livestock sector.
Welcoming the team, IIRS Executive Chairman, Mr. Justice R. Okoye (FCA), reiterated that IIRS is the sole agency established by law to collect all revenue in Imo State. He noted the decline in remittances and called for a harmonized assessment process and adoption of IIRS’ new technology-driven system for transparency.
He also reintroduced OCORA – One Community, One Revenue Agent, which will ensure accountability in revenue collection across communities.
Responding, Prof. Mgbeahuruike confirmed that the Ministry has stopped direct revenue collection in line with Gov. Hope Uzodimma’s directive. All payments must now go through IIRS.
The Chairman assured that government is not against businesses, but requires its rightful revenue from commercial farmers to drive development.
