The Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) will on Monday, July 20, 2026 begin motor vehicle paper renewals on self-service portal, thus ending the age-long human interface in paper documents renewals.
In a public notice by the agency made available to Business Hilights.ng and signed by the Executive Chairman of IIRS, Mr. Justice Okoye, FCA, the Service announced as follows;
“This is to inform the general public and all motor vehicle owners that, effective Monday, 20th July 2026, the renewal of Motor Vehicle Papers will no longer be carried out at any IIRS Office across the State.
“All renewals are to be processed exclusively via the IIRS Self-Service Portal.
This initiative is part of our commitment to improved service delivery, transparency, and ease of doing business.
“PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING;
RENEWALS: Vehicle papers renewal will ONLY be done online through the IIRS Self-Service Portal.
NEW REGISTRATION: New vehicle registration will continue to be done through the IIRS physically at all designated IIRS offices.
Taxpayers and the general public are advised to visit www.iirs.im.gov.ng to access the portal and for step-by-step guides on how to renew.
For further enquiries or assistance, please visit the nearest IIRS office or call our hotline; 07044143059.
We appreciate your cooperation as we move towards a fully digital tax administration.
