Isaac Fayose drags Reno Omokri over UK and Nigeria petrol price comparison
Mr. Isaac Fayose, brother to former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Peter Fayose and leading social media influencer has lambasted Mr. Reno Omokri for comparing fuel prizes in Nigeria and Uk without recourse to minimum wage in both countries.
Acorring to him, “Our Mexico Ambassador, Nigerian Ambassador to Mexico, Reno Omokri, said the cost of buying one litre (of petrol) in UK is times three of what you buy in Nigeria, Mr. Reno Omokri, why you no get brain?
How much is minimum wage in Nigeria? Minimum wage in Nigeria is 70,000 Naira.
So if I’m buying 1,400 per litre from my 70,000, that means in a month I will be able to use just 48 litres.
That’s what my salary can buy. That is excluding food, excluding accommodation, excluding logistics, excluding transportation.
But in UK, minimum wage is £12.50. And when you do 40 hours a week, 40 hours times 4 weeks, you are looking at 160 hours. When you times that, that means lowest paid in UK, the person is earning about £25,000.
£25,000 a year is about 50 million Naira. But 70,000 times 12 months is less than 1 million Naira.
But £2,500 a month times 12 months will give you about £25,000. £25,000 in Naira today is about 50 million, 49 million a year. So Mr. Omokri, what can I do with 70,000 in a month?
And what can the minimum wage in UK do for the person in UK in a month? How much is it in Naira? Mr. Omokri, they don give you an ambassadorial, so, your brain done miss. It’s just a talk to please your master.
How can a country that minimum wage is 70,000 be buying fuel for 1,400? And you now say Nigerians are enjoying, in UK, they are buying times 3 where minimum wage is 5 million Naira.
Mr. Omokri, how much did you spend for this trip? Do you pray to be in that category of minimum wage? Even if they give you an ambassador, use your brain.”
