Contrary to an initial claims by an unknown and unverified online news platform (name with held) that the President of Balogun Business Association (BBA), Lagos International Trade Fair complex, Chief Oscar Paul Ikechukwu Odogwu, was implicated in the land grabbing clash that lead to the death of an environmental monitoring taskforce member of the management board, the truth of the matter remains that Chief Odogwu was never around the complex as at the time of the breach.
The breach which occurred on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, was between security details of the BBA and members of the taskforce.
Latest details on the matter showed that the particular security staff of BBA, Mr. Afam Ezeakire who is being suspected of being involved in the demise of the taskforce member has turned himself in to the Police for protective custody while investigations in the matter which is now directly under the Office of the Lagos State Police Commissioner, continues.
Besides, as at the last meeting at the Commissioner of Police Office, Ikeja on Monday, every party to the matter was directed to make their own separate statements so as to further assist Police in its ongoing findings so as to conclude investigations on time ahead of charging the matter to court.
Whereas frantic efforts to get additional details on the matter at the Police Headquarters failed at press time, a senior Police officer who pleaded anonymity assured that both the Police, the Honourable Minister, the management of the complex and the leadership of the BBA are fully cooperating in the ongoing investigations.
Also, efforts to hear from Trade Fair Management, BBA officials including the President, Chief Odogwu, the CSO, Hon. Silas Chime, Deputy CSO, Hon. Sam Ifeanyi Obi or Chairman of the management taskforce team, Alhaji Ismaila Bakare was not possible.
