An unknown aircraft on Wednesday, landed at Asaba Ogwashi Uku expressway that is under construction with cement instead of Asaba Airport. Took off again from the express road
The Incident: The private jet, carrying passengers and four crew members, executed a missed approach while trying to land at the Asaba International Airport.
Due to the difficulties, the pilot was forced to land on the roadway where it evacuated all passengers and crew.
The Departure: Following the road landing, all four crew members safely exited the aircraft. Without securing the required regulatory approvals, the flight crew later took off from the expressway and flew to Lagos, only notifying Air Traffic Control after they were already airborne.
The Consequences: The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has officially grounded the aircraft, suspended the operator’s permit, and launched an investigation into the safety and regulatory violations.
