The Minister of Finance, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, welcoming the Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal revenue Service (IIRS), Mr. Justice Okoye (FCA) in his office in Abuja recently.
The Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), has officially unveiled the digital, and none-human interface motor vehicle renewal process in Imo State on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Responding to the Monday take off of the scheme across the state, the Executive Chairman of the Service, Mr. Justice R. Okoye, FCA said “I am pleased to announce another significant milestone in our journey towards building a modern, efficient, and technology-driven revenue administration in line with the digital transformation agenda of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma.
“Effective Monday, 20th July 2026, the renewal of all Motor Vehicle Papers will be processed exclusively through the IIRS Self-Service Portal. This means that vehicle owners will no longer be required to visit any IIRS office across the State for renewal of their vehicle papers.
“This initiative was carefully designed with one objective in mind: to make vehicle paper renewal easier, faster, more transparent, and more convenient for every resident of Imo State.
“By leveraging technology, motorists can now renew their vehicle papers from the comfort of their homes, offices, or anywhere they may be, without the stress of queues, unnecessary delays, or multiple visits to government offices. This is part of our unwavering commitment to delivering quality public service while promoting transparency, accountability, and ease of doing business.
“I wish to emphasize that this directive applies only to the renewal of existing vehicle papers. New vehicle registrations will continue to be carried out physically at designated IIRS offices across the State.
“I encourage all vehicle owners to embrace this innovation by visiting www.iirs.im.gov.ng to complete their renewals through our Self-Service Portal. The portal has been designed to provide a simple, secure, and user-friendly experience, with clear step-by-step guidance throughout the process.
“Our dedicated support team remains available to assist members of the public who may require guidance during the transition.
“The Imo State Internal Revenue Service remains committed to introducing innovative solutions that improve service delivery and make government services more accessible to our citizens. Together, we are building a digitally enabled Imo State where public services are efficient, transparent, and citizen-focused,” Okoye, the Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal Revenue Service concluded.
