Mr. Justice R. Okoye (FCA), Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal revenue Service (IIRS)
In line with the takeoff of Consolidated Haulage Levy, the management of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Tuesday hosted the Honorable Commissioner for Livestock, Prof Anthony Mgbeahuruike, and the Honorable Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Barr. Rex Anunobi for a strategic meeting on the implementation of the levy in the state.
The meeting aimed to sensitize stakeholders and ensure full compliance with the consolidated haulage levy initiative, was attended by relevant stakeholders including members of transport unions, super agents, and the management of the Interim market executive.
Representing the Executive Chairman of IIRS, Dr. Agbakwuru, Head of Debt Management and Enforcement, welcomed all present. He sensitized them on the Consolidated Haulage Levy and noted that the initiative officially commenced on the 1st of June,2026 and the process of collection is absolutely digital and not manual.
In their goodwill messages, the Honorable Commissioners urged all stakeholders to key into the initiative, describing it as a step toward a more organized and transparent haulage system in the state.
However, the Commissioner for livestock Prof. Mgbeahuruike, noted a concern raised by the authorized agents regarding the lack of a valid means of identification.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Agbakwuru assured the gathering that the issue has been addressed. He disclosed that enforcement jackets which will serve as the official means of identification for the agents are ready and will be distributed immediately after the meeting.
