INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS DAY: Apapa Port Customs Command Assured Stakeholders of Facilitating Legitimate Trade with Efficiency, Effectiveness and Prompt Commitment to Service Delivery in line with this year's theme: CUSTOMS DELIVERING ON ITS COMMITMENT TO EFFICIENCY, SECURITY AND PROSPERITY.
The Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command of Nigerian Customs Service NCS, Compt Babatunde Olomu has affirmed that officers and men of the pioneer command will continue to maintain trade facilitation momentum throughout this year so as to surpass target and drive efficiency.
He further averred that aside trade facilitation, innovative approaches that will addresses trade issues and fast dispute resolution will be applied to grow the confidence of stakeholders in line with the theme of the 2025 ICD.
Speaking at this year’s International Customs Day ICD, in Apapa, he expressed the confidence that the Command would meet and surpass its 2025 revenue target as usual considering the enviable height of dedication to duty of the command and seamless efficiency always applied in processing documents at the command.
While delivering a speech to commemorate the ICD, Compt Olomu made it clear that the theme f this year’s cerebrating remains apt, considering the relevance of “Customs delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity,” to Nigeria’s economic growth and sustainable economy.
The Area Controller, who also highlighted the Command’s commitment to non-intrusive inspection, leveraging technology and risk management strategies, emphasized the importance of data generation, collation, and application for evaluation and planning.
According to him, the Command achieved a total collection of N2.357 trillion in 2024, thus, doubling the N1.1 trillion collected in 2023.
He further used the occasion to aver that its revenue target for the year 2025 shall be attained and even surpassed.
Olomu who appreciated compliant Stakeholders, used the 2025 ICD to urge cearing agents and other port stakeholders to always play and do their business by the rule to limit official encumbrances.
