The Executive Chairmen of Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Mr. Justice R. Okoye (FCA) and his Lagos State counterpart, Mr. Ayo Subir has structured a new partnership that will grow exchange programmes between the two states tax administration in future.
Speaking to Business Hilights.ng during a recent Lagos-hosted Joint Revenue Board (JRB) meeting, he said “It was a great privilege to connect with the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Ayo Subair a seasoned and transformative leader whose impact on revenue administration continues to set the pace across Nigeria.
“Our engagement was rich, forward-looking, and centered on what truly matters: innovation, efficiency, and the continuous evolution of sub-national tax systems. His leadership at LIRS remains a clear example of how vision, structure and technology can drive remarkable revenue growth and institutional excellence.
“Conversations like this are a reminder that the future of tax administration in Nigeria will not be built in isolation but through shared ideas, strategic collaboration and bold leadership.

Giving further insights on the JRB summit, Okoye noted that “The 159th Meeting of the Joint Revenue Board (JRB) continues to provide a powerful platform not just for policy direction, but for meaningful engagements with key drivers of tax administration across Nigeria.
“It was a pleasure connecting with the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, Oladele Bankole-Balogun, during the sessions in Lagos.
“Our interaction aligned strongly with the core objective of the 159th JRB moving from fragmentation to coherence. We shared insights on strengthening institutional capacity, deepening compliance and advancing innovative approaches to revenue generation at the sub-national level.
