Some states chief executives of Internal revenue Service at the recent 159th JRB summit in Lagos
It was pump and pageantry recently in Lagos State as Executive Chairmen of all states Internal Revenue Services plus relevant institutions’ bosses gathered to review policies at their 159th Meeting of the Joint Revenue Board (JRB).
In an exclusive media chat, the Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Mr. Justice R. Okoye (FCA), who was in attendance, spoke with Business Hilights.ng, saying “Moments like this capture the true spirit of the 159th Meeting of the Joint Revenue Board (JRB) Unity, Collaboration and Shared purpose. I had the honour of taking this photo alongside distinguished Executive Chairmen from Osun, Abia, Cross River, Borno, Enugu and Adamawa States, as well as representatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

According to him, “Beyond the smiles is a powerful message a collective commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s revenue architecture through collaboration, harmonization and institutional synergy. The 159th JRB is not just about policies on paper; it is about people, partnerships and the alignment of vision across states and agencies to drive sustainable growth.
He said “When leaders come together like this, fragmentation fades and coherence takes shape.
Together, we are building stronger systems, fostering accountability and shaping a more resilient economic future for our nation.
On the Lagos tour experiences of JRB attendees, Okoye revealed that “Not every highlight of the 159th Joint Revenue Board (JRB) Meeting happened inside conference halls some moments spoke louder outside them.
“As part of the event in Lagos, we embarked on a strategic tour of Eko Atlantic City, right within the Eko Atlantic Business District. What we saw was not just infrastructure it was vision brought to life.
“A city rising from the Atlantic, built on precision, planning, and long-term economic foresight. It stands as a powerful reminder of what is possible when ambition meets structure and execution.
“For us as revenue administrators, the message was clear: sustainable development is driven by strong systems, strategic investment and efficient revenue frameworks.
“The 159th JRB is about moving from fragmentation to coherence and this tour reinforced exactly what coherence can achieve when it is done right.
“We are not just discussing the future.
We are witnessing it.
And more importantly we are building the systems to sustain it.”
