IIRS and OCORA Stakeholders
The Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) has intensified its sensitization campaign on the implementation of the OCORA Initiative with a strategic visit to the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, Skill Acquisition and Social Responsibility.
Representing the Executive Chairman of IIRS, Mr. Ugochukwu Okechukwu, Head of Presumptive Tax, led the delegation and was warmly received by the Honourable Commissioner, Prof. Chinyere Love Moses.
Mr. Ugochukwu Okechukwu conveyed the goodwill message of the Executive Chairman and delivered a comprehensive presentation on the objectives and implementation framework of OCORA. He explained that the initiative, being driven by IIRS, is designed to strengthen revenue mobilization at the grassroots level, improve tax compliance, widen the tax net, and support sustainable economic growth across the state.
Also present at the sensitization meeting was the Imo State Association of Artisans, led by Apostle Duru, whose participation underscored the critical role of artisans and the informal sector in the successful implementation of OCORA. The association expressed its readiness to collaborate with government in promoting compliance and supporting initiatives that will drive economic development and prosperity across Imo communities.
Addressing the members of, the Commissioner described OCORA as a flagship initiative of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, aimed at deepening grassroots development through enhanced revenue mobilization. She urged staff of the Ministry to embrace the initiative, emphasizing that every government institution has a role to play in strengthening revenue generation for the development of Imo State.
The engagement concluded with interactive discussions, stakeholder contributions, and a collective commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of OCORA as a key driver of increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and sustainable development in Imo State.
