Ahead of a scheduled visit to the largest auto market in sub-Saharan Africa, the leadership of Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association (ASPMDA), Lagos International trade Fair complex has advised members who are interested in growing their businesses to the next level of local manufacturing to come up business proposals that will be presented during the upcoming working visit of the Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin.
Business Hilights.ng recalls that both the DG and ASPMDA President, Hon. Ngozi Emechebe had met and sealed a deal for working visit to the plaza at the recently concluded West Africa Automotive Show (WAAS) held at Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos last month.
In a communique signed by both ASPMDA President, Hon. Emechebe and the General Secretary of ASPMDA, Sir Juve Uche Okpala-Okaka weekend, the association said “This is to formally inform all esteemed members of ASPMDA that the Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council [NADDC] has promised to pay an official visit to ASPMDA, Lagos International Trade Fair Complex.
“PURPOSE OF VISIT: The NADDC delegation is reaching out to identify and support genuine investors and entrepreneurs within the auto spare parts and machinery sector who are interested in partnering with the Federal Government to establish manufacturing plants, assembly lines, and factories in Nigeria.
“This is a laudable initiative by the Federal Government aimed at:
- Promoting local production of auto spare parts and machinery
- Reducing over-dependence on importation
- Creating jobs and growing the Nigerian automotive industry
“CALL TO ACTION: All members who have interest in setting up factories, production plants, or assembly facilities, and require government support, technical assistance, or incentives through NADDC are hereby advised to:
- Prepare a brief proposal/profile of your intended project
- Indicate your area of interest – manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, etc.
- Be physically present during the visit to interact directly with the NADDC team
Whereas the statement described the planned working visit as “a rare opportunity for ASPMDA members to key into the Federal Government’s automotive development policy”, the ASPMDA leadership encouraged every member with vision for industrialization to take advantage of this visit.
The statement therefore advised interested members in need of further details and or submission of interest, to please contact the ASPMDA Secretariat as soon as possible.
