Though no news on closure of Strait of Hormuz by Iran, the recent escalation of air strikes by both US and Iran may push up oil prices in coming days. This is coming on the heels of latest response of US President on the strikes.
“The ceasefire with Iran is now over”, President Trump said, after both sides traded strikes, raising concerns that the war could reignite. Here’s what we know.
The latest: Tensions are flaring after Iran targeted American military sites in the Gulf in response to U.S. strikes on Iran and sanctions on its oil sales. Asked about the status of the ceasefire, Trump responded: “For me, I think its over.” He indicated negotiations would likely continue, adding: “I think they’re wasting their time.” [AP]
Oil prices: With gas prices continuing to fluctuate, the White House launched 25 Freedom Fuel gas stations in the Philadelphia region. All are selling fuel at $3.47 a gallon. On social media, Trump urged retailers to drop prices “for the American people,” and lamented that oil prices remain high.
