The Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Mr. Justice R. Okoye, FCA has pledged to step up service delivery activities with fresh ideas and knowledge he got from a recent Joint Revenue Board (JRB) meeting held in Abuja earlier this week with all states chairmen and Chairman of National revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zaach Adedeji.
Speaking in an interview with Business Hilights.ng after returning from the Abuja meeting, he convened an emergency meeting with a select group of his management team for strategic engagement on how best to implement new ideas.
He revealed that “We held extensive discussions on our ongoing projects, proposed initiatives and the practical steps required to translate our plans into visible outcomes. The meeting provided an opportunity to review priorities, identify areas requiring urgent attention, assign responsibilities and strengthen our implementation strategy.
Okoye noted that “The knowledge, ideas and valuable insights gained from the event must not remain in conference halls or meeting notes. They must be converted into improved systems, stronger institutions and better service delivery.
IIRS direction is clear:

✅ Accelerate priority projects
✅ Embrace innovation and efficient processes
✅ Deliver measurable and sustainable results
✅ Build a transparent and taxpayer-friendly revenue system
Okoye stressed that leadership is not only about attending strategic meetings; it is about returning with fresh ideas and immediately putting them to work.
He used the engagement meeting to appreciate the members of IIRS management team for responding promptly and contributing meaningfully to the discussions, saying “We are returning to our responsibilities with renewed energy, a stronger sense of purpose and an unwavering commitment to delivering results.”
He sounded a clear note of warning that “There is no time to play. The work has begun, and every plan must produce impact.
