The emerging Imo Digital Hub building in Owerri, Imo State Capital
The new Imo Digital City: a flagship innovation facility under Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration, is now 90% completed, bringing the state closer to launching one of its most ambitious digital transformation projects.
Conceived as a hub for digital skills development, tech innovation, and economic advancement, the center is being built through collaborations with leading global technology companies, signalling Imo’s readiness to integrate into the international digital ecosystem.
While answering series of questions yesterday via the Imo state X-Space series, the Honorable Commissioner for Digital Economy and Communications, Dr. Chimezie Amadi stated that these partnerships will enable the state to host world-class digital training programs, startup incubation support, and technology transfer initiatives that will empower young people and entrepreneurs across the state.
The facility will feature ICT labs, innovation studios, and a digital entrepreneurship space designed to equip residents with globally competitive skills while attracting tech-driven investments into Imo.
Describing the project as a strategic leap toward a modern, resilient economy, Dr. Amadi emphasized that the Imo Digital City will serve as a catalyst for job creation, youth empowerment, and the growth of a vibrant technology community.
With construction nearing completion, the city is expected to open soon, positioning Imo State as an emerging digital powerhouse in Nigeria and a preferred destination for global technology collaborations.
