Leading Orlu LGA of Imo State-born community leader and grassroot politician, Comrade Chief Odinaka CA Emejuru, has hailed the successful convention of Labour Party held at the Umuahia International Conference Centre., saying the just concluded 2026 national elective convention of the Party was an opportunity turned into a celebration of legends of the Nigerian labour movement.
He said the convention brought in legends of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) from across the length and breathe of the country and a few others who flew in from overseas.
Addressing the marmot crowd of Labour Party faithfuls in his standing as the Acting Chairman of Labour Party Board Of Trustees (BOT), Comrade Barr. Pa Lawson Osagie, stole the show.
His passionate address is coming at his 84yrs on earth and in over 56yrs in active labour movement in Nigeria.
Saluting Pa Osagie, leading labour leader, Comrade Chief Odinaka CA Emejuru, a product of Labour unions that have traversed socialist movements in Japan and Russia and strategic engagement with the Congress Of South African Trade Union (COSATU), was caught in tears of joy as he salute Pa Osagie for invoking the revolutionary slogan of Amandlaaaa as the heavily filled Umuahia International Conference Centre echoed Aawetu in response.
Comrade Emejuru explained that just like the NLC and the TUC for Labour party of Nigeria, COSATU was very institutional directorates of the African National Congress of South Africa.
Assuring of continued solidarity, the labour legends are confident that labour party will win many elective offices in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

No doubt, the party stands for the political emancipation of Nigeria as Labour party epitomises leadership in diversity for the progress of the country and the world at large.
Meanwhile, the major outcome of the successful convention was the election of Nenadi Usman as its substantive National Chairman, marking a new phase in the party’s leadership and internal restructuring ahead of future elections.
Usman, who previously served as caretaker national chairman, emerged alongside other members of the National Working Committee during the party’s 2026 national elective convention held in Umuahia on Tuesday.
Other key officials elected include Iheanacho Obioma as National Secretary and Hilda Dokubo as National Women Leader. The convention adopted a consensus approach combined with an affirmative voting method, a move party stakeholders say was aimed at promoting unity and avoiding internal disputes.
In her acceptance speech, Usman expressed gratitude to party delegates for the confidence placed in her leadership. She pledged to strengthen the party’s structure and deliver inclusive leadership that reflects the aspirations of its members nationwide.
