Stakeholders training on OCORA by IIRS
The Imo Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Thursday hosted a strategic engagement meeting with critical stakeholders in Imo State as part of efforts to drive awareness and grassroots adoption of the OCORA Initiative.
Business Hilights.ng reports that OCORA; One Community, One Revenue Agent is an innovative policy idealized by IIRS and adopted by the state government to drive grass root tax education and compliance for better results and state development.
The meeting brought together representatives from key sectors that form the backbone of Imo’s economy and workforce.
Stakeholders in attendance included:
- Ministry of Entrepreneurship, Skills Acquisition and Social Responsibility
- National Automobile Association
- State Chairman and Committee of Imo Market Association
- Association of Artisan Development [ASSARD] Interim Market Committee
- Association of Nigerian Artisans and Technicians
- Association of Professional Plumbers of Nigeria
The central focus of the meeting was to sensitize stakeholders on the OCORA Initiative — its objectives, benefits, and how it will impact artisans, technicians, traders, and entrepreneurs across the state.
The session was highly interactive. Stakeholders raised questions, shared insights from the field, and got direct clarifications from Mr Ugo Okechukwu Head compliance/presumptive tax; the anchor of the session.
IIRS reaffirmed that no sector will be left behind. The Service will continue to collaborate with artisans, technicians, and business associations to promote entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, and sustainable economic growth in line with the vision of the Imo State Government.
