Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, Elected 32nd NBA President
With well over 12 thousand votes, Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN beat two of her rivals to clinch the 32nd President of the prestigious Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) over the weekend.
Many members commended Mr. Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, Chief (Aare) Olumuyiwa Akinboro, the Electoral Committee of the NBA (ECNBA), and every lawyer who participated in the electoral process including the former President, Mr. Anyiam Osigwe, SAN for running a free, fair and credible election.
Elections test institutions, but they also provide opportunities for renewal. Now that the ballots have been counted, our collective responsibility is to strengthen the unity, independence, and credibility of the Bar.
The challenges before the legal profession—and indeed our country—require a Nigerian Bar Association that is courageous, inclusive, and unwavering in its defence of the rule of law, constitutional democracy, and access to justice.
We wish the President-elect and the incoming leadership wisdom, strength, and every success in the service of the Bar and our nation.
Congratulations once again, and may the Nigerian Bar Association continue to grow in integrity, professionalism, and public trust.
