Director of ICS, Dr. C. P. Nwadinobi, Abia State University (ABSU) making presentation at the oneday Seminar recently.
The Directorate of Institute for Information and Communication Services (ICS), Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), on Thursday, 9th July, 2026, conducted a one-day sensitization seminar on Academic Results Management Reforms with the theme, “Enhancing Transparency, Compliance, and Efficiency in Academic Records Management.”
Declaring the seminar open, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Gazie Okpara expressed happiness to see such a sensitive training being conducted at this point in time. He urged staff members to take full advantage of the training as part of capacity development, noting that it would undoubtedly enhance their effectiveness in the discharge of their duties.
In his presentation on the Senate Policy on Students’ Course Registration, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) pointed out that only bonafide students are eligible to sit for University examinations and access their results. According to him, what qualifies a student as bonafide includes the payment of approved fees, registration of courses, and at least 75% attendance in all registered courses, which makes them eligible to write examinations.
He also highlighted the responsibilities of Departments and Faculties in ensuring proper verification of students’ course registrations against academic requirements and maintaining accurate departmental records of students.
A press release made available to Business Hilights.ng by the Media Unit of the University noted that the Deputy Vice-Chancellor appreciated the Director of ICS for the initiative and commended members of staff for participating in the seminar.
In their separate presentations, the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Osita Ugbogu, spoke on the topic, “Need for Effective Class Advising for Enhanced Student Success.”
The Director of Academic Planning (DAP), Dr. Felix Ike, presented a paper on “Result Integrity, Departmental Responsibility and New Module,” while the Director of ICS, Dr. C. P. Nwadinobi, spoke extensively on “Enforcement of Senate-Approved Timelines for Results Processing and Upload.”
In a vote of thanks, the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Afamdi Anene, expressed satisfaction and thanked the University Management and the Directorate of ICS for organizing such a timely and important seminar, which he described as highly essential. He prayed that God would grant participants the wisdom and strength to apply the knowledge acquired for the betterment of the University.

Deans, Heads of Departments, senior academics, lecturers, and other members of staff of the University attended the seminar.
