Further to the need for clarification, the leadership of Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association (ASPMDA) has made it clear to the public and all members that by the Judgment of the Federal High Court, Lagos Division, in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/851/2024, delivered on 5th May 2026, it has clearly reaffirmed the supremacy of the ASPMDA Constitution and Hon. Ngozi Emechebe administration as ASPMDA President.
Accordingly, it is also important to make it unambiguous that no authority or agency can interfere with or impose any individual on the leadership structure of ASPMDA contrary to its Constitution as amended.

The Court further declared that any purported attempt or directive to impose anyone on ASPMDA to administer the affairs of the Association is unlawful and contrary to Article 15 of the ASPMDA Constitution.
ASPMDA members will recall that between 2022 and the 2025 Christmas holiday period, there were repeated attempts to assume control over the ASPMDA Secretariat during periods when business activities within the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex had been suspended for the holidays and members were generally away from the Complex.
At no time was any subsisting Court Order presented authorizing any takeover or occupation of the ASPMDA Secretariat or leadership structure.
ASPMDA remains committed to peace, constitutional governance and the rule of law and will continue to pursue all matters strictly through lawful and democratic processes.
Business Hilights.ng reports that members are therefore urged to remain calm, peaceful, law-abiding and focused on their lawful businesses as the Association prepares for its constitutionally scheduled general elections in 2026.
Hon. Emechebe made it clear that “ASPMDA remains governed by law — not by force”.
