Late Dim Ekema Odumegwu Ojukwu and his widow, Barr. Bianca Ojukwu
Ever since former military ruler that fought against Biafra secession, Gen. Yakubu Gowon presented his memoir; ‘My Life of Duty and Allegiance’, many analysts have continued to pick holes especially on how he bluntly refused to give clear details on his interpretation of the Aburi Accord and how he blamed Malaria for making his to abandon the implementation of the MoU he signed in Ghana.
Others have also asked several questions on why Gowon silent on bombardment of hospitals, schools and levying of economic blockade against the Igbos during the war without any answers in the book.
But in all these, the widow of the Biafran warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, who is now a serving minister, had remained silent without any form of response upon the glaring picture of hypocrisy and silencing of critical war facts.
To many, Bianca Ojukwu’s silence speaks volumes: why is she quiet over Gowon’s attack on Ojukwu?
In what many are calling a disappointing silence, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, widow of the late Biafran leader Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, is yet to respond to recent allegations made against her husband by former Nigerian Head of State, Yakubu Gowon.
Business Hilights.ng reports that her continued silence has raised eyebrows, especially as she currently holds a ministerial position in the Nigerian government.
Analysts say even if she is serving the government, that does not in any way stops her from pointing out fallacious contents of the Gowon’s memoir in respect to her departed husband who would have countered a lot of things if alive.
The big question on the lips of many Igbos is: If the Ojukwu family, particularly his widow, cannot defend the legacy of the man who led Biafra, why should the rest of Ndigbo lose sleep over Gowon’s new book “My Life of Duty and Allegiance”?
Otherwise, when the lion’s widow refuses to roar, should the pride still stand up?
