The President of United Allied Spare Parts Dealers Association (UASPDA), Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Chief Arinze Enyibuaku has given full assurance that the 2026 elections of the association slated for Thursday this week will be free, fair and credible.
Speaking to Business Hilights.ng in his office on Friday, he said “My administration is very hopeful on the success of the general election on Thursday considering the level of preparedness we have put in place. The electoral committee have been given all they requested for a free and fair election and we are ready for the election.
“I want to assure everyone of my seriousness to conduct a free election. As you all know, am not contesting and am not interested in any party or contestant. Let everyone come and test his or her popularity and strength here at the election. We have concluded security arrangement with every necessary security agency and we have equally notified the trade fair management board and stakeholders association.
“Am aware that both the management board and stakeholders will be sending their observer team. In fact, every logistics are on ground for a free, fair and credible pools on Thursday this week.
Giving further insights on why he declined to contest for second term as president, he said “Am a peace lover and even though many of my well-wishers approached me to contest, I felt that the peace and progress of the association is superior to my personal interest. I decided to give peace a chance for the love I have for the association and for the growth of our businesses here at UASPDA”.
Findings made by Business Hilights.ng at the plaza weekend showed that there are two major political parties with their candidates from the post of the President to the Provost with their campaign posters everywhere showing their readiness even as campaign trains with their megaphones and music systems are blastering every nook and crannies of the market ahead of Thursday’s election.
Whereas the UASPDA Devine Movement (UDM), which use ‘Leadership with Integrity’ as its motto has Hon. Uzochukwu Mmaduike as its presidential, the other party, UASPDA Liberation Movement (ULM) which uses ‘Together we can make a difference’ as motto is presenting Hon. Tony Bright for president.
It would be recalled that Hon. Mmaduike, who is the current Secretary General of the association, was adjudged as doing excellently well while in office
Additional information on the Thursday’s election showed that whereas the entrance gate of the association will remain closed during the election, members are free to open their shops while the election is going on.
