In line with its policy of carrying stakeholders along on every policy decision, the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) has held a Stakeholders meeting on the Consolidated Haulage fee.
Stakeholders in attendance cut across sectors involved in Haulage Levy such as Transport, Trade/Commerce, Livestock and Security agencies
During the meeting, the Cyber One Systems team gave a brief overview of the Progress made in the Haulage sector in the past years. While explaining the introduction of the Consolidated Haulage Levy, they further gave details of the components of the Haulage Levy and Haulage Tax. They also enumerated the various agencies/bodies involved in the administration and collection of the Levy and went ahead to specify the Rates of the Haulage Levy for different Vehicle Types.
Business Hilights.ng reports that the team made it clear that the Haulage Levy is paid per trip and Haulage Tax is Paid once a Year.
The Cyber One Systems Team entertained questions from stakeholders from different Sectors, making Clarifications and eliminating confusion and ambiguities. The Team also clarified that the Haulage Levy is different from other dues and service Charges on the Roads depending on the circumstances involved.
The Team reaffirmed the need for Proper widespread sensitization to all Taxpayers and General public to ensure adequate enlightenment and increase voluntary compliance.
The Head HR, who Mrs Chinwe Jude Ibemere represented the Executive Chairman, Mr. Justice R. Okoye (FCA) at the meeting, thanked the Stakeholders and assured them of the readiness of the service for the smooth Collection and enforcement of the Consolidated Haulage Levy.
