Signing session of the understanding between SEDC and Enuigu State Government.
Barely one month after the board of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) red riot act to the Executive Management team of the Commission led by Mr. Mark Okoye, it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Enugu State Government to advance the South East Agro Development Programme (SEADP), a strategic regional initiative aimed at unlocking agricultural productivity, attracting private investment, strengthening food security, and creating sustainable economic opportunities across the South East.
It was not however, clear if other remaining four states of the zone have signed their MoU or will still sign.
Business Hilights.ng recalls that during a Board review of its activities, the chairman, Senator Orji Uzo Kalu decried poor financial discipline of the managing Director and issued a stern warning to the entire team to seat up or be sacked.
The signing formalises months of technical planning, stakeholder engagement, and field assessments undertaken jointly by SEDC and the Enugu State Government. It also marks the first state-level implementation partnership under a programme that will be expanded across all five South East states.
Through strategic collaboration with state governments, the private sector, development partners, financial institutions, research institutions, and host communities, SEDC is laying the foundation for an integrated agro-industrial ecosystem that transforms agricultural potential into productive, investable, and inclusive economic growth.
This is how we build a more prosperous South East: through deliberate planning, strong partnerships, and disciplined execution.
